An Evening at Nightfever
The Holy Mass
The evening begins with Holy Mass, usually celebrated by the parish priest and accompanied by a music ministry.
Prayer, Music, Reconciliation
After a short time of preparation, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the altar and the music minstry lead a gentle time of prayer and reflection. Jesus who is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament invities us to come closer to Him on this special evening so that we can receive his love and mercy. Throughout the evening, we are encouraged to open our hearts to Him who is the source of all peace, love and mercy, and to place before him all the intentions of our heart. To help us do this, the steps of the altar are beautifully adorned with candles, baskets for prayer intentions and words of scripture.
Several priests are on hand to talk with, to give you a blessing or to administer the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Invitation
The Nightfever team of volunteers have a desire to share the joy of their faith. Teams of two will approach passersby in the street with a simple invitation to come and light a candle in the church. Many people are touched by the offer and accept this invitation. Once the volunteers have guided them into the church and explained the evening, most are struck by the candlelight, the beautiful music and the busy pews of people who have gathered to pray before the one who has truly invited them, Jesus.
The Nightfever Initiative
Nightfever is organised by young Christians whose faith is central in their lives and who seek to bridge between individuals, parishes and communities. Everyone who shares the same ideas as the Nightfever is welcome to be part of it. With our initiative we would like to address young people that have stayed away from the church and to draw them closer to faith again. All should happen without any obligations; as it is said in the gospel of John “Come and see!” (John 1,46).
